FAITH - Potpourri
James 2:14 “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?”
James 2:21 “Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?”
James 2:22 “Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?”
James 2:23 “And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. And he was called the friend of God.”
James 2:24 “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.”
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
Works – Greek – ergon - (a primary but obsolete word; to work); toil (as an effort or occupation); by implication an act: - deed, doing, labour, work.
-
Our actions (works) are working together with our faith.
-
We are justified by works and not by faith only.

Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
-
Our mandate to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15
-
Every one of us has been called to “GO” (Into our spheres of influence)
-
The nations will hear the gospel of peace and come to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Read Mark 9:17-24 “All things are possible to him who believes.”
-
The father’s son is not healed because of unbelief.
-
Jesus rebukes the father who has unbelief.
-
The father states to Jesus “But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
-
“Jesus replies, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
-
The father cries out “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

Read Matthew 17:14-21 “If you have faith as a mustard seed”
-
This is the same account as in Mark 9:17-24
-
Jesus compares a mustard seed, to a large mountain.
-
The mustard seed is the smallest of seeds which represents our faith.
-
The mountain represents the largest obstacle that needs to be removed.
-
The comparison is that the smallest amount of faith can remove the largest of obstacles.
All Things Are Possible With God!!!
